What is a Par 2 Disc Golf Course?

A Par 2 disc golf course is a community-friendly disc golf course where 9 holes can be installed on as little as one acre of land.

These types of courses are great in areas where there is a high youth or elderly population as a recreational activity to engage them to get outside and get moving.

These types of courses can also be used as practice courses by advanced players as they are not going to be simple easy shots from the tee to the green. Rather every shot will have a unique challenge.

We use the concepts set forth in the PDGA’s purple design guidelines combined with championship-style design principles to develop these unique courses.

Why Should we add a Par 2 Disc Golf Course over a Standard Course?

Often parks, colleges, and schools want the benefit of having a disc golf course but do not have a place that is suitable for one.

These spaces are often used anyways by unqualified designers as seen by the image at the left and become safety hazards to other disc golfers and the community as a whole.

Unfortunately, these types of signs do not mitigate the liability of the property owner or designer.

What does a Par 2 Course do that a standard design does not?

Par 2 designs are designed in minimal space. Holes average around 100 each but can range between 60 and 130 feet.

These courses are designed so that players get a championship feel in a minimal amount of space.

What discs are appropriate for use on a Par 2 course?

Par 2 courses only need putters and mid-ranger drivers.  Fairways and distance drivers should never be thrown on on a Par 2 course.

As such, appropriate signage needs to be erected to state that drivers are not allowed to be used on the course.

The point of the course is that it should be a place where beginners and kids learn to play as well as where advanced players can develop and hone their skills to reach the next level in the short game.
